See I had just stopped talking to a friend and felt it was the right decision to do. Even though my heart hurt severely I still knew it was right. So the surprise was a car ride but first was the stop at Starbucks for coffee.
Then as we are driving I thought we were heading onward towards Matthews just to view some antiques stores. My mother knows how much I love to look at the books in antique stores. I actually found a few ( Willa Cather and Sir Arthur Doyle) worth buying but I always tend to be out of cash when I find them. So it was in essence "window shopping". Something my family used to do as kids because money was tight. I smiled.
This is a shot of ink that is still liquid. It is gorgeous and I loved that there was a variety of color including the red.
Old type from a printing press. I looked down and it said "How young?" I thought that was interesting.
This is the side of a nice buffet sideboard. I loved the texture in the wood. Some parts of it was smooth and other parts rough.
Haha. It was so good to see a cedar wardrobe still in working order. Including the aroma when it was opened. My grandmother and great grandmother had one in her house. It still brings back such sweet memories.
So after stopping at four antique places my mom said lets just ride out this way. I actually fell asleep because I was just so tired ( shopping is so exhausting). When I woke up we were passing this little restaurant in town just outside of Myrtle Beach.
Just the ultimate yuck. Crispy donuts and seafood -- steam blue crab and it is all available with a drive thru. Yeah, NO! Just so many scenarios went through my head as to why they would even put both together. Or if the donut shop was the idea but they were losing money so they tacked on the restaurant part. Still "crispy yummy" donuts with seafood. Driving on by pretty fast here.
So yes we went through Myrtle Beach but didn't stay long. Just drove through. Yet I wanted to see the ocean so my mother drove all the way down the beaches and stopped at Garden City Beach. Pretty quiet and the waves were amazing as well as the wind. I couldn't go far because I was wearing one of those boots for the foot but I did enjoy the high tide in areas. It was nice.
The last one I really love because I like the reflection of the clouds in the water on the sand.
There were about 30 people out here. Mostly were locals with their families and a few visitors getting in the last bit of the summer. Pretty much I was standing right where the water stopped in the sand. It was nice to know at some point in November or December I will come back and enjoy the beach, not having the boot on my foot.
Since now I am only wearing an ankle brace until the ankle heals completely. Most days I only need to wear it when I know I will be on my feet a while.
So nearing six pm we started heading back towards home. We stopped to get coffee (gross watered down) but still it was warm.
This was my view into my coffee cup. Styrofoam and a plastic lid reflecting inside my coffee. Pretty cool. Obviously I was overly tired.
These shots were as we were entering into the Hartland/McBee area. Now this reminded me of my childhood so much. The back roads of Vinton county Ohio and the roads between Lancaster and Lithopolis, Ohio. Just pure beauty.
Top one I called a split sun but it is just the cloud coverage breaking up the sun.
By the time we reached home it was dark and we were tired. Although it was a long day it was a sweet surprise, indeed.
So until next time.
This is a ginger walking. Hoping for daisy finds.
Mary
