McMullen Creek Greenway

I am a kind of gal that likes to research and maybe a bit too much. I also love nature very much and expect to find at least one piece of nature that stands out in a moment.

McMullen Creek Greenway is no exception. I had read that there was nature everywhere and that possibility of seeing turtles, deer or birds. But they forget to say things about the busy bees and the flowers opening up. Even the odd parts of old trees.

Nature is beautiful.

Anyhow.

This greenway is located off Pineville - Matthews Road (51) in Matthews, NC. It is near some shopping areas and I actually drove past it several times wondering what my GPS was saying about arriving at your destination. Only when I turned around for the fourth time did I go slower and saw the sign, It is visible but I just wasn't noticing it.

When I got there I parked in the parking lot. Had thought I wouldn't need to add my back pack but about half mile in I turned around and went to retrieve it anyhow. This park is a bike trail, a running trail and a walking trail. There are several entrances to the trail as well, nearing homes. As you walk, run or bike you will see and hear dogs in yards barking.

First you get in the trail from main entrance there is fountains and resting areas. Just a few more steps and off to your right you see a walking bridge with actual water beneath. I nearly got squashed by cyclists on the bridge but they were going too fast.

Not too big but certainly enough room to "respectfully" not knock or make someone squeeze against bars to be safe.

Water beneath bridge and to side. Wraps around. See more water areas as you walk down.

The park signs constantly remind you this is our walkway but the animals habitat. So be kind.

As you get about a quarter or half mile into the walk it turns from gravel to slated boards for a wide walkway. This is definitely slippery when it is wet so be careful. Just be aware.

The greenway is 5 miles one way so 10 miles around and is clearly marked for each half mile just so you can determine how far you want to go. For me it was two miles in. I was getting sluggish and I still had errands to do afterwards or go to another park.

I got a few stares from people walking or running when I stopped to take my photos given to me by nature, by God. I did explain the to the few that actually walked up to see what I took photos of. I am not shy in showing them. Yet I don't expect them to understand the fascination I have with nature.

Certainly with all that run or ride bikes rapidly through there are not there for same reason as me. I meander along actually enjoying the parts of nature or will stand there and watch as animals dance in front of me.

Its my kind of entertainment.

Very swampy in some areas, such as this one but flowers grow everywhere.

A knotted tree.

weedy daisies and fuzz

I call this the yellow trampoline

One of the staring moments. I had to explain this looks like a throne that was barely holding itself together after decades of being majestic. Its funny how people agree once they slow down.

Thorns and grasses

One stem but lots of growth.

My love of dew and water. Mixed with rain. I love dew drops. I stood leaning over the edge for 8 minutes trying to get a great shot. This is one of several. One of the things a lady inquired on. Thinking I was taking a photo of a water animal. I said no, dew is just as beautiful as animals. And she laughed. Saying no it is not. I shrugged. Perhaps I think too simply but I enjoy dew immensely.

So until next time.

A ginger walking. Hoping for daisy finds.
