Belle Johnston Lake Park

So on May 28th, 2017 I went to several parks that day. I had a grand adventure and enjoyed 7 miles of walking and hiking.

Yet at this park is in Pineville, NC off a back road inside this small town. I almost over looked the location because all I saw was this massive building and thought it was just a "park" for reservations. Such as for receptions and such.

Though I thought that, I continued to drive down the road and into the parking lot. As I pulled in I saw the water feature, pond with fountain. It was nice, serene and just calming. Surrounding the pond is a nice sidewalk to do laps. Up, back further are some benches and swings to enjoy listening to the water or sway to gain a cool breeze.

As you look further there is a small amphitheater and a big playground off to the side. I found that I came in to main entrance but there is a "North" entrance where you can park primarily for the playground area. And believe me it is a good size playground. Safe too.

Upon my arrival of seeing the water I wanted to go down and sit. I crossed through the grass, too impatient to wait to get to the water. Although I did see a nice ramp for wheelchairs, strollers and people who may have difficulties walking. (Afterwards coming back up I noticed all this accessibility features)

In crossing the grass I made it to the water side fast and saw 2 gentlemen racing their motorized sailboats across the pond. I ended up sitting on the bench near where they were set up. When they noticed I was taking photographs of their boats they came closer. I was able to take photos of the boats in the water and up close of one.

They proceeded to tell me that during the summer months they have sailboat races every Saturday on the pond. I was excited to hear this news. Although I did not inquire on the time, but I am sure it may be listed on the website I will be attaching for the park.

Belle Johnston Lake Park

This pond/lake is next to the to the "massive building" (Community Center) so do look it up.

The view you have just from parking your car in the parking lot.

The fountain that if you sit in the right spot with the wind you will get sprayed by the mist. I know I did.

Near the woodsy area there is a view of the sidewalk. Probably too hard to see but it is there.

From this angle you can see the "North" entrance parking and some of the the playground area.

The motorize sailboats in the water. A nice serene view.

Gentleman opening motorized part to turn off engine and drying boat on rack.

Up close of the racing sailboat.

So I think I spent a good 30 or 40 minutes just sitting here looking at the water feature but not really walking. Thinking this is a good park for my mother, who so dearly misses water areas. I then went on to my favorite park.

I hope if you have questions you either ask me or go to the website above.

Until next time. A ginger walking. Hoping for daisy finds.
